Even when he had his last match with WWE back in January at Royal Rumble, AJ Styles hedged his bets. He took his gloves off like he was going to leave them in the ring and then changed his mind, putting them back on. He later explained he did this because he understands that you can “never say never” in the business of professional wrestling.
One of the things that would bring him back is the opportunity to work with his son, who he helped out in his big debut match just last month. Well, he reiterated that in a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet:
“I have said this before — and I’ll say it again — usually we’re granted one comeback for one match. I’m not saying it’s going to happen. I’m just saying, usually it’s granted. Never say never. Listen, the opportunity to wrestle with my son or sons, that’d be pretty cool.”
Yeah, that sure sounds like a dude who has convinced even himself that he’s wrestling again. And you know what? I can’t even blame the guy.
How cool would it be to share the ring with his own children, all these years later? Why not just go for it, retirement be damned?
