Golden State Warriors rookie forward Yaxel Lendeborg has been named Most Valuable Player of the 2026 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Lendeborg, the 11th overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft by the Warriors, averaged 14.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.0 assists in six games en route to leading the Dubs to this year’s Summer League championship. He also shot 45.9 percent from the floor and 35.7 percent from 3-point range.
In addition to being named the MVP of Summer League, which was voted on by all 30 NBA teams, Lendeborg was also one of five players named to the All-Summer League First Team. He was joined by Cam Boozer (Grizzlies), Caleb Wilson (Bulls), Brayden Burries (Bucks), and Meleek Thomas (Cavs).
The 23-year-old forward did not miss a single game in Las Vegas for the Warriors even after playing in two Summer League games in the California Classic before the official NBA Summer League.
Lendeborg’s best performance at Summer League came on July 19 in the championship game against Boozer and the Memphis Grizzlies. Playing roughly 32 minutes, Lendeborg recorded a game-high 21 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, and two steals. He shot 9-of-18 from the floor and knocked down two triples to give the Warriors a 94-90 win after trailing by 10 points entering the final quarter.
Although he was the oldest player selected in the first round of the 2026 NBA Draft, Lendeborg has quickly proven that he is one of the most NBA-ready rookies entering the league.
He will immediately make an impact with the Warriors, and Lendeborg made it known he’s excited to get to work with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.
“I’ve talked to Steph and Draymond a couple of times, just about how to navigate the rookie year. What are the things that I should do to try to stay in the league as long as they did? And just getting the actual feedback, actually talking to them, getting to follow in their footsteps,” Lendeborg told ClutchPoints’ Tomer Azarly. “It’s like, man, I’m really here with these guys, and this is insane, you know?
“So it definitely feels amazing just being able to just even talk to those guys.”
After being the leader for Michigan’s national championship journey, Lendeborg took on the same responsibilities of leading the way for Golden State’s Summer League team alongside second-year wing Will Richard and LJ Cryer, who played the 2025-26 season with the Warriors on a two-way contract.
As he prepares for his rookie season, Lendeborg is simply ready to win. He won a national championship, followed by a Summer League championship, which is why Lendeborg is now ready to aid the Warriors in their NBA championship aspirations.
“I’m going to bring a lot of energy,” Lendeborg said immediately after winning the Summer League championship. “I’m going to be the most energetic playing guy on the floor every night.
“I’m going to try to bring as many positive vibes as possible.”
