The New York Yankees got back into the win column on Monday evening with a home victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Still, it’s been a disappointing start to the unofficial second half of the season for New York, as they lost two out of three to the Los Angeles Dodgers over the weekend.
The Yankees have been dealing with numerous key injuries lately, including to superstar Aaron Judge, and recently, manager Aaron Boone gave some key updates on two other members of the Yankees’ roster.
“Aaron Boone tells us Giancarlo Stanton is ‘actually doing pretty well’ and should be back in a ‘reasonable amount of time,'” reported Talkin’ Yanks on X, formerly Twitter.

Stanton has been out for the majority of this season due to a calf strain. Of course, “pretty well” and “reasonable” are both extremely vague, so at this point, there doesn’t seem to be a clear timetable on the veteran’s return to the lineup.
Boone also gave a more specific update on pitcher Max Fried.
“Aaron Boone tells us that Max Fried will throw 60 pitches in a rehab start tomorrow and then they expect him to join the rotation in Chicago,” reported Talkin’ Yanks.
Fried has been out of the lineup for around two months due to an elbow injury. While the Yankees’ pitching staff has done an admirable job of holding down the fort without him for the most part, the team would still love to get the star back in the lineup as soon as possible as the AL East race heats up.
The Yankees currently sit 1.5 games behind the Tampa Bay Rays for first place in the division. New York will next hit the field on Tuesday evening vs the Pirates.
