Earlier this year, AJ Styles retired from professional wrestling after losing to Gunther at the 2026 Royal Rumble PLE. Just weeks later in Atlanta, Georgia, Styles officially confirmed his retirement and was soon inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
With six months already passed, Styles recently opened up about the chances of coming back inside the ring. In his new interview with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Styles opened up about the topic of wrestling alongside his children and potentially making a return.
“I have said this before — and I’ll say it again — usually we’re granted one comeback for one match. I’m not saying it’s going to happen. I’m just saying, usually it’s granted. Never say never. Listen, the opportunity to wrestle with my son or sons, that’d be pretty cool.”

Avery Jones, one of Styles’ sons, recently began his own wrestling career. However, despite Styles’ positive and hopeful words, there are currently no confirmed updates on “The Phenomenal One” returning to in-ring action either in WWE or any other promotion.
AJ Styles’ new WWE job explained
Done with in-ring action, a few months ago Styles opened up and explained his new job with WWE while speaking on his Phenomenally Retro podcast. “I’ve been going to indie shows and checking those out, just seeing what everyone has to offer and stuff like that. I’m scouring the internet for something that sticks out…if you want to send me that stuff, fine, go ahead, I’d love to see it. So yeah, I’m trying to check out talent and see how much talent is out there,” Styles shared.
