While many people look back on their childhood bedrooms and cringe at their decorating choices, one woman’s trip down memory lane has left millions of people wishing they could have grown up in the same home.
Content creator Brynley Burchett, 28, from Utah, recently shared a glimpse on TikTok (@brynleyburchett) of the extraordinary bedroom she once shared with her sisters, and the internet is obsessed with the clever design.
Rather than having separate rooms, the large space was transformed into a shared bunk room for the four sisters. Burchett told Newsweek that she has “always loved this room,” which emphasized the importance of connection while also giving each sister their own privacy.
“When I was about 13, my parents were beginning the custom design process of their home,” Burchett said. “I saw an image on Pinterest of a large shared bunk room, and that sparked the idea to have all girls share one space.
“My mom is incredibly creative and helped bring our idea to life. We moved into the bunk room and home when I was 15 and my other sisters were 13, 9, and 7. Each of my sisters lived in the bunk room until we eventually moved out.”
The TikTok clip shows what the perfectly organized bedroom featuring not one, but four built-in bunk beds. Each bed is positioned against the wall and comes complete with a curtain that can be drawn for privacy, creating individual sleeping nooks within the shared space.
The room also maximizes storage, with drawers built beneath and shelves above each bed. At the far end of the bedroom sits a large bay window filled with cushions, creating a cozy reading or relaxation area for the sisters to enjoy together.
At the time of writing, the video has amassed more than 4.4 million views and over 883,300 likes on TikTok, with thousands of users flocking to the comments section to praise the design.
“Since moving out, I’ve continued to love the space, and reading all the sweet reactions from people online is helping me appreciate it even more,” Burchett said.
“Most of the comments have been very complimentary, expressing how much my parents must love us, how special it is to have so many sisters, and how treasured our memories must be in that room. I couldn’t agree more. I am so grateful to my parents who worked hard to offer my sisters and I the life we got to enjoy together in this magical room.”
As her parents still live in the home, Burchett loves going back and seeing her old room. She told Newsweek that she “wouldn’t trade” it for anything, and is even planning for her own daughters to share a bedroom soon.
Shared bedrooms can help foster strong sibling relationships, but many people who grew up sharing space with brothers or sisters often remember the lack of privacy. Burchett’s childhood room certainly struck a balance between togetherness and personal space, giving each child their own curtained sleeping area while still maintaining a communal atmosphere.
That detail was not lost on viewers, many of whom described the room as something straight out of a childhood fantasy. In just a few days, more than 2,000 TikTok users commented on the post, sharing their admiration and, in some cases, envy.
One commenter wrote: “as a mom, I’d cry every time I walked by and didn’t see this room packed full with my little girls.”
Another TikTok user simply replied: “Some people are born lucky.”
The video also sparked curiosity about the rest of the home, with one viewer commenting: “I feel like we need a house tour now.”
Others compared the bedroom to something out of a movie or luxury retreat rather than a typical family home.
“It’s giving sorority sisters in the BEST possible way,” another person added.
