A California shopper was left speechless after uncovering a dream find for just $3 at a yard sale in Los Angeles.
Beaded handbags have enjoyed a major resurgence in recent years, with fashion enthusiasts embracing the colorful, handcrafted accessories as a way to add personality to their outfits. While many of today’s beaded bags can retail for hundreds of dollars, one woman managed to score an authentic vintage piece for less than the cost of a cup of coffee.
Ally Purugganan, who posts on TikTok under the handle @allyduhrey, shared her remarkable discovery after spotting the purse at a yard sale on Beverly Boulevard in Los Angeles.
The bag turned out to be a vintage Maud Hundley design dating from the 1950s or 1960s. The eye-catching accessory features intricate needlepoint-style beadwork arranged in a vibrant floral pattern, with shades of blue, red, green and pink. A metal clasp adds to its classic mid-century appeal.
Clearly thrilled with her purchase, Purugganan showed off the handbag in a TikTok video that quickly attracted attention from fellow thrift and vintage enthusiasts. At the time of writing, the clip had amassed more than 39,000 views and 8,900 likes.
Alongside the video, she wrote that she was “dying at this thrift find,” highlighting her excitement over the unexpected bargain.

Maud Hundley handbags have become highly sought after among vintage collectors. Hundley operated from Anchorage, Kentucky, and was known for producing elegant handmade bags featuring needlepoint and beaded floral designs. Many of the purses were crafted with ornate metal frames, intricate embroidery and colorful patterns that reflected the craftsmanship of the era.
Although the bags were originally sold several decades ago, they continue to command impressive prices on the resale market today. Recent listings for Maud Hundley purses have ranged from around $58 to more than $245, depending on condition, rarity and design.
