The Washington Wizards showed great faith in Trae Young when they signed him to a $212 million four-year deal last month. The 27-year-old only recently expressed confidence in the fact that he will be back to playing his best basketball in Washington next season after sitting out the majority of last campaign.
And well, his agent Aaron Mintz wholeheartedly agrees, according to his interview with Fadeaway World. Mintz claimed that Young was already happy with his decision to come to Washington, and has only grown in confidence after recent moves. And while some may have questioned the extension and claim that the Wizards have overpaid, Mintz claimed it was a no-brainer for both parties.
“When you look at what Trae Young does with big men, to me, it is a no-brainer. Trae is one of the few players in the history of the NBA to average 20 points and 10 assists for multiple seasons. To me, this is a no-brainer move for both parties. Time will tell, but I’m excited for the season. I think Trae and this team are going to have a phenomenal year. Michael, Will and Trae are all going to look incredibly well once this season gets going,” he said.

Mintz claimed that Young fit in perfectly alongside Alex Sarr and Anthony Davis, and the arrival of AJ Dybantsa has added further excitement.
“He was pretty much sold on everything throughout the year. But once the Wizards got the No. 1 pick and drafted AJ Dybantsa, that added more excitement to an already incredible situation,” Mintz explained.
Young was shut down for the season in April last campaign after multiple injuries saw him limited to just five games after making the move in January this year. Since then, the Wizards have undergone significant change, adding Anthony Davis in February and then selecting AJ Dybantsa with their No. 1 pick of the 2026 draft.
Now, the Wizards not only have proven All-Stars, but also a potential generational prospect to build around for years, giving them the look of a potential playoff team, at least on paper. The only problem is perhaps that their All-Stars are injury-prone, something the Wizards will hope does not ring true in the coming time.
