The fairly low-profile Lange Cos. is getting a bit of attention in Wichita Tuesday with the dropping of one of its 7 Brew modular buildings.

For a company that has a number of segmented business units in multiple industries, Lange Cos. still has a fairly low profile.

“We’re not much about fanfare,” said COO Tim Taton.

That’s changing a bit on Tuesday with the drop of the new 7 Brew coffee shop near 21st and Maize Road.

For more than three years, Lange Cos.’ ModuAll has been constructing modular 7 Brew buildings for franchisees across the country and dropping them into place in locales such as Tennessee, Texas and Georgia.

Even though there already are 7 Brew restaurants here, Tuesday morning marks Lange’s first Wichita drop of the 750-square-foot restaurant.

“It’s a joy to actually get to do something that’s going to be in the Wichita marketplace,” Taton said.

The restaurant will be at 10221 W. 21st St. where Jacob Liquor Exchange once stood.

“At Lange, we’ve been in the modular building business for a really long time,” Taton said. “A lot of people in Wichita probably aren’t privy to that fact.”

He said Lange’s business units are market leaders in a variety of modular buildings, such as blast-resistant buildings, offshore buildings for oil refineries and vessels and storage buildings on construction sites.

Lange has a couple dozen 7 Brew buildings in the works currently, and there are more coming around Kansas, too, Taton said.

“Essentially, we’re pretty proficient.”

If you didn’t know the 7 Brew restaurants were modular buildings, Taton said you probably wouldn’t guess it because they look like any other buildings.

As excited as the Lange team is to be doing this drop in its hometown, there won’t be any celebrations with free coffee or anything like that. Since Lange is the builder and not the operator, Taton laughed and said the franchisee probably wouldn’t appreciate that.

Look for more information on the 7 Brew opening soon.
