Will Ferrell's New Series With All-Time Career Record Is Officially Netflix's #1 Show

Will Ferrell's latest TV show, which has set new records for his career, has officially become the #1 new series on Netflix, following its premiere.

The streaming success on Netflix is not stopping anytime soon, as one of their newest projects has climbed the charts.

While the summer season is going forward, Netflix continues to add new TV shows to the popular streaming platform. However, one of their recent additions has landed divided reactions between audience members and members of the press, but that hasn't stopped the service from landing another major win in 2026.

The Hawk, which premiered on July 16, has now become a streaming hit for Ferrell, as it is currently the #1 TV show on Netflix in the United States. But its success doesn't stop there, as it is also holding the top spot for the streaming giant in Australia, Canada, and Iceland, while sitting at #2 in England, New Zealand, Ireland, and #3 in Denmark and Finland.

The comedy show's worldwide streaming success continues, as it has surged to #4 in Estonia, Malta, and Norway, while performing at #5 in Croatia, Latvia, and Slovenia. Netflix subscribers in Austria and South Africa have helped the series get to #6 on Netflix, as well as #7 in Ukraine, #8 in Cyprus, Lithuania, and #9 in Switzerland and the Bahamas.

For Ferrell's latest role, he plays Lonnie "The Hawk" Hawkins, who is looking to recapture his glory days as a professional golfer. However, becoming the #1 golf player again is not simple, as the sports-comedy explores the new challenges that come his way. The cast also features Molly Shannon, Fortune Feimster, Jimmy Tatro, David Hornsby, Katelyn Tarver, along with Luke Wilson, Aida Osman, Keith David, and Gabriel Hogan.

As of writing, The Hawk season 1 has 30% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 33 submitted reviews. However, the Netflix Original has been better received by viewers, as the audience score is at 70%, and both ratings are still subject to change. The 2026 project also has Ferrell as not just the main star, but also one of the creators and executive producers. The actor co-created the series alongside Chris Henchy and Harper Steele.

In ScreenRant's The Hawk review, Ferrell's latest entry was met with disappointment, with the following statement: "In a landscape where sitcoms are all but extinct, and new comedies are attempting to blend genres to create some sort of hybrid that contains the best parts of two different worlds, The Hawk had an opportunity to move forward in either direction." While they had the chance to make "this a sitcom, but clearly, Netflix and the rest of the team opted for a more linear narrative that builds up the characters across 10 episodes in season 1."

Time will tell if The Hawk season 2 will happen, as it's still too early to tell. However, given its streaming success, Netflix will likely, at the very least, keep the door open for a potential renewal once more analytics have come in.

The Hawk season 1 is available for streaming on Netflix.
