Nationally, gas prices currently sit at $4.01. Last month the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline in June was $3.91.
Gas prices have increased as the conflict between the United States and Iran intensifies, disrupting shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil supplies. The conflict began earlier this year.

Drivers in the Austin-San Marcos metro area are also seeing higher prices. AAA reports the average price has risen from $3.39 last week to $3.69 per gallon.
