The NBA world is eagerly waiting to find out where LeBron James will be playing during the 2026/27 season.

James announced he was leaving the Los Angeles Lakers in June 2026, and he is yet to confirm his next team despite much speculation in the media.

Commissioner of the NBA, Adam Silver, is even said to have been ‘pushing’ for the legendary figure to make an announcement about his future. But it has been suggested that Silver’s actions could actually end up delaying that decision.

Adam Silver ‘pushing’ LeBron James’ free agency announcement has caused irritation

Well, Cleveland sports radio personality Andy Baskin, as quoted by USA Today, has claimed that James was probably ready to confirm his next team, but ‘irritation’ with the commissioner seems to have pushed it back.

He said: “LeBron’s crew was probably ready to make an announcement, especially because they were in New York.

“The world had their eyes on New York because of the World Cup as well. Yeah, and so that they were probably comfortable making an announcement as early as last week that they were there, and then people were like telling them what to do.

“There’s a little bit of irritation. Irritated was the word that I was told, irritated by the commissioner pushing them. It may not just be LeBron, but it’s more about LeBron’s group together, so that the irritation got to the point they were like, ‘Well, you know what? We’ll decide when LeBron is going to tell everyone where he’s going.’ So they decided to hold back on making their next decision, their next move on where they want to play or where LeBron wants to play.”

In recent weeks, a number of NBA sides have been linked with a move for the 41-year-old.

Most recently, Miami Heat uploaded a James return press conference link, but it was quickly deleted from their YouTube account.

Elsewhere, the Cleveland Cavaliers have identified Jonathan Kuminga as a possible alternative to James if he decides to snub them.
