It's dill-icious.
Pickles have found themselves in the food limelight. There's a plethora of dill-flavored products and menu items to choose from—some more creative than others. Burger King had pickle fries, KFC had an entire pickle menu, Grillo's collaborated with PBR for a briny beer, while Oreos got some skin in the game with dill pickle-flavored cookies.
This past holiday season, McDonald's welcomed the pickle craze with its Grinch Meal McShaker Fries. But it was momentary bliss as the meal, in all of its dill glory, had left the Golden Arches.
Don’t worry, though, fast food chains are still relishing on the trending vegetable. This all-new meal is the perfect substitute for the McDonald’s menu item of seasons past.
Wendy's Canada Introduces New Pickle Menu
On June 8, the home of the Frosty announced that it's bringing the trending flavor to its menu—but only for a limited time.
Only at Canadian Wendy's, customers can get their hands on the all-new Pickle Chicken Sandwich, complete with pickle slices and a pickle-infused mayo. Choose from Classic or Spicy Chicken and order the new sandwich as a combo or à la carte.
The Pickle Menu also features Dill Pickle Shaker Fries, which are classic, crispy fries shaken with dill seasoning and served with a Dill Pickle Dipping Sauce on the side. We don't blame you for wanting to drizzle the sauce on everything—nuggets and burgers included.
The sandwich is priced at $8.39 CAN, and the fries retail for $3.49 CAN.
Wendy's new Dill Pickle Shaker Fries seem extremely similar to the Grinch McShaker Fries, with one reviewer saying, "Had these yesterday!!! They were IDENTICAL to Grinch fries and SO good!"
Canadians are ecstatic, but Americans are turning sour over the pigtail girl's decision to exclude the U.S. in this newest menu release.
One pickle fan commented, "America needs this ASAP!!!!" while another begrudgingly wrote, "How is this not American we have pickle everything."
Not all fries are alike, and there's a big difference between Mickey D's shaker fries and Wendy's. McDonald's gave customers their own seasoning packet and bag to shake themselves, while Wendy's serves them pre-seasoned and shaken. For those who hate a mess in the car, we see the appeal. But for those who prefer a particular amount of zesty seasoning, you can't shake your own bag to perfection.
To add to the conversation, comment sections are flooded with Americans begging for this dill-centric meal. At the same time, Canadians are vying for the "Minions & Monsters" meal, which is currently available only in the U.S. I guess we always want what we can't have. *sigh*
