The Tennessee Valley Authority’s new Cumberland Natural Gas Plant is expected to be fully operational before the end of the year.
The 1,450-megawatt facility will be the largest gas plant built as a single project in TVA’s history.
The project comes after a proposed natural gas plant in Cheatham County was scrapped following community opposition.
TVA GM of Major Projects Ryan T. Scott is ready to make history.
When we’re complete with this, this will be the largest gas plant to date in the TVA system for a single project.
The plant is expected to generate enough electricity to power nearly 850,000 homes, with more than 1,000 construction workers are helping build the facility.
