When you think “record-breaking catch,” you are probably picturing a wide receiver.
But it turns out that Pete Crow-Armstrong, with yet another brilliant catch last night, set a Statcast Era record:
Kevin Kiermaier, often held up as the defensive model for PCA, had a season and a half of catches that weren’t tracked by Statcast. But even if you assume he did EXTREMELY well in that season and a half, Pete Crow-Armstrong would’ve passed him at some point anyway. As Mike Petriello suggests, PCA is likely to add a whole lot more to his tally of 5-star catches before his days are up.
