Donald Trump's war in Iran has only gotten more unpopular since hostilities have picked back up, according to a new poll.
The survey published by the Washington Post this month shows that the war's net approval rating sits at -40 points, a deep drop from when the war first started in in late February.
A Post poll taken in early March recorded a -13 point net approval rating. "It's very rare for a war to start off underwater in net approval," CNN's Harry Enten said on Tuesday.
Enten added that the Post's poll showed Trump's lowest ever approval rating on the war.

"It started off unpopular and now it is even more unpopular -- historically unpopular at 40 points underwater," Enten said of the war.
Warning signs for Republicans in the midterms
The Washington Post asked participants whether the Iran was was worth it or not worth it. Only 28% responded that it was, while 68% said it was not.
A survey that posed the same question of the Iraq War in 2006 with about the same amount of time left before the midterm elections found that 40% of Americans said the war was worth it, while 58% said it was not.
"Keep in mind the Iraq War by this point in 2006 it had been going on for three years. We're only a few months into this war," Enten said.
Republicans in 2006 would later lose both the House of Representatives and the Senate in the midterms.
"This is a very, very bad number for the president. I think a lot of Republicans in Congress don't like this number one iota," Enten said.
Helping drive disapproval of the war are independents, who 77% of responded against the war in the Post's poll, and GOP-leaning independents, who 63% responded against the war.
"This is a historically unpopular war. It's a war that's only getting more unpopular," Enten said. "And while President Trump won't be on the ballot come November, a lot of Republicans in Congress will be."
