Zohran Mamdani’s video Tuesday strongly condemning Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu drew sharp criticism from Trump allies.
In a video exceeding two minutes, the New York City Mayor called Netanyahu a “war criminal” and the architect of a genocide against the Palestinian people. He also expressed support for the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) arrest warrant for Netanyahu, urging the federal government to enforce it.
It didn’t take long for Trump allies to condemn Mamdani’s statement with Ambassador Mike Huckabee calling for Mamdani to be arrested for “incitement.”
“Would be easy to say NY Mayor is just an ignorant bigot, but he is not dumb. He’s an evil anti-Semite who deliberately lies about serious things like ‘genocide’ to stoke Jew hate,” Huckabee wrote on X.
Huckabee’s daughter, Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who was Trump’s former White House Press Secretary, also blasted Mamdani, calling his comments “disgusting and disgraceful” on X.
Another one of Trump’s top allies, Sen. Tim Scott dismissed Mamdani’s remarks as “utterly ridiculous.”
“The same crowd that rushes to condemn Israel never has much to say about the terrorists who started the war, massacred civilians, raped women, kidnapped children, and still hide behind their own people,” Scott continued in an X post. “Mamdani wants the headline that comes from attacking Netanyahu, not the consistency that comes with confronting Hamas.”
Then came some more extreme rebuttals, with Rep. Randy Fine characterizing Mamdani as ”a Muslim terrorist.”
Self-described Trump “loyalty enforcer” Laura Loomer cited an FBI source on X, writing, “Senior FBI leadership has reason to believe Mamdani may be having direct communication with Islamic terrorist organizations. He is certainly a national security risk which is why we declined giving him an FBI approved security clearance. He won’t be getting one.”
She then alluded more subtly than Rep. Fine to Mamdani’s religion, pointing out that “he’s going to be Mayor of NYC on the 25th anniversary of 9/11 this year.”
