NFL expert Garrett Podell has named the three ‘most underrated’ quarterbacks, and football fans may be surprised.
Podell named Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott and Green Bay Packers star Jordan Love on his underrated shortlist.
However, NFL viewers probably would not have expected to see the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Trevor Lawrence mentioned.
Lawrence led the Jaguars to the playoffs with a 13-4 record last season, but most consider him an underachiever.
The 26-year-old was one of the best prospects in NFL history and has not yet developed into a superstar.
Here is why Podell believes Lawrence could be the ‘most underrated’ quarterback in the league ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Trevor Lawrence makes top three ‘most underrated’ quarterback list
Trevor Lawrence’s reputation has never fully recovered since his dreadful first season in Jacksonville under Urban Meyer.
He has since developed into an above-average quarterback and just had the best season of his NFL career so far.
Still, Podell does not think that Lawrence has received the credit he deserves and considers him very underrated.
“Trevor Lawrence initially struggled to pick up Liam Coen’s offense, but once the lightbulb came on, he soared,” the CBS Sports analyst explained.
“Lawrence’s 38 total touchdowns ranked as the third-most in football last season behind only the league’s last two MVP winners: Matthew Stafford (46) and Josh Allen (39).
“Across the final six games of the 2025 season, Lawrence produced an absurd 19 total touchdowns to just one turnover.
“That feat made him just the third player in NFL history to record 19-plus total touchdowns and one or fewer turnovers in the final six games of a season.
“With scheme familiarity in Coen’s attack in 2026, Lawrence could solidify himself as a top-10 quarterback.”
If Lawrence can establish himself as a top-10 QB next season, the Jaguars could be dark horses to reach the Super Bowl.
