Here's where to go for an "especially engaging getaway," Yahoo Travel says.

A San Luis Obispo County city is one of the top destinations for trips with friends, according to Yahoo Travel.

The media outlet recently went in search of the best places to travel with friends in the United States.

“Traveling with friends often brings you back to a version of yourself you don’t get to access every day,” travel adviser McLean Robbins, founder and lead designer at Lily Pond Luxury, told Yahoo Travel. “With friends, there’s often more levity … You can linger over dinner, sleep in, laugh at old stories and make new ones.”

The ideal destinations for these getaways offer a “variety of shared activities and experiences” as well as “space for effortless downtime,” Yahoo Travel contributing writer Mia Taylor wrote in a June 29 article.

What’s the best place for a friend trip in SLO County?

Yahoo Travel named Paso Robles as a perfect travel destination for friend groups due to its laidback wine country setting.

“Paso Robles is perfect for a group that wants to relax over wine,” Taylor wrote. “It also has just the right mix of activities for an especially engaging getaway. “

Envoyage travel advisor Janet McLaughlin described Paso Robles as “the kind of destination that turns a birthday into a memorable experience rather than just a night out.”

“Friends can spend the day tasting wines, enjoying beautiful scenery and sharing great meals, then end the evening celebrating under the stars,” McLauglin said.

Another top-rated stop, Justin Vineyard and Winery, is home to one of two San Luis Obispo County restaurants with Michelin stars.

In addition to wine tasting, Yahoo Travel recommended taking a hot air balloon ride, going horseback trail riding and attending a concert at Vina Robles Amphitheatre.
