The married couple jetted off to Mexico City for a Spider-Man: Brand New Day photocall on July 20, just days after their previous collaboration, Christopher Nolan‘s The Odyssey, hit theaters worldwide. Holland, 30, and Zendaya, 29, posed for photos alongside director Destin Daniel Cretton at a fan event at the Aztlan Feria de Chapultepec, an amusement park in the city, with the Ferris wheel lit up in Spider-Man red behind them.
While Cretton, 47, described a specific scene in the movie with the two stars standing on either side of him, one fan captured a sweet moment on video as Holland looked across Cretton to give Zendaya an air kiss, which she quickly returned with a smile.
Though Holland and Zendaya tend to keep their relationship out of the public eye, the actor has confirmed the two married earlier this year. In a June interview with Esquire, Holland said that he didn’t have to clarify anything to his family members surrounding the fake AI photos of his wedding because “they were all there” at the real ceremony.
Just a month later, he called Zendaya his “wife” in a July 21 appearance on the U.K.-based Dish podcast when asked who he’d like to spend a vacation in Greece with.
“I think probably my wife would be pretty good,” he replied. “It would be a bit strange if I went, ‘Sorry babe, I’m gonna take Matt [Damon, Holland and Zendaya’s Odyssey costar] actually.”
The couple has been busy working this summer, doing two simultaneous press tours that have taken them everywhere around the world. Brand New Day marks their fourth Spider-Man movie together after meeting on the set of 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Zendaya has previously praised Holland for his commitment to the franchise, in which he stars as the titular superhero and she as his love interest, MJ.
“It definitely wouldn’t be the movie that it is without Tom Holland, not just because he’s Spider-Man, but because of all the work that he’s doing behind the camera,” she said in a video released by Sony Pictures on Thursday, July 2.
“He cares so much about the character. He cares so much about the people who relate and connect to the character, and wants to do justice to Peter Parker’s story and what he means to so many people,” Zendaya continued.
Brand New Day picks up after the events of 2021’s No Way Home, in which the entire world’s memory of Spider-Man’s real identity as Peter Parker was wiped — including MJ’s and Peter’s best friend Ned’s (Jacob Batalon). Joining the cast are Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando and Mark Ruffalo.
