Mike Santana’s surprise arrival on WWE NXT has already drawn praise from someone who knows him better than most. Fresh off their TNA World Championship rivalry, Nic Nemeth believes Santana has arrived at exactly the right place. Nemeth hinted that even bigger things could be ahead for his former rival.
Nemeth’s comments came just days after Santana made his presence felt by confronting NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo following the July 22 edition of NXT.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, the reigning TNA World Champion reflected on Santana’s recent run before his NXT debut. Hr explained why he has been so vocal about praising his former rival.
“For the last two months, I have been singing the praises of Santana and what he was doing for TNA and carrying the flag and representing TNA as the champion, a fighting champion.”
Nemeth also highlighted Santana’s connection with fans. He pointed to the personal growth the new WWE star has shown both inside and outside the ring.
“Someone who wears his heart on his sleeve… He’s changed his life for his daughter, his family… I’m trying to fight this guy and hate his guts and I go, ‘I’m behind you.'”
The pair recently battled for the TNA World Championship at Slammiversary, where Nemeth defeated Santana. Following that loss, Santana disappeared from TNA television amid reports suggesting he was leaving the promotion.
Those reports were followed by Santana’s unexpected appearance on NXT, where he emerged from the crowd to stare down Tony D’Angelo after the main event.
Nemeth admitted he didn’t know what Santana’s future held when they faced each other at Slammiversary, but he believes everything has now fallen into place.
“Then he shows up on NXT and I cannot stress enough how that just seems right… This is the perfect time for him to hit NXT, possibly run that damn place.”
Nemeth also noted that Santana’s name recognition could help bring additional attention to NXT.
Whether Santana eventually captures the NXT Championship remains to be seen, but his arrival has already earned a ringing endorsement from the man who last shared the ring with him. If Nemeth’s prediction comes true, Santana may not just cross the line - he could climb straight to the top rope.
