Time to get some zzzzz’s! Have you ever seen a baby elephant sleep before? It’s so stinkin’ cute! A calf really has caught the attention of the internet for the adorable way he was snoozing. He even had his very own stuffy! All the little one needs is a big glass of milk.
Why are sleeping animals so much cuter than regular animals? This baby elephant is simply too adorable. He’s the perfect little guy!
I wonder what he’s dreaming of? The baby elephant was knocked out cold on the ground by his mama’s foot. He must feel so safe right there! Nothing was bothering the little guy. He was off in la la land.

He’s such a little angel. The baby elephant even had his little tongue out, which is how you know he was sleeping well. Mom was carefully watching over the little one as he slept. There was a whole herd of elephants around them. The baby was totally protected.
The whole comments section was overwhelmed by all the cuteness!
“His little tongue is sticking out,” cooed one person.
“All babies are basically the same regardless of species,” another commenter pointed out.
“I love how the adults surround the baby to protect him while he sleeps. Nature is amazing,” gushed another person.

How Do Elephants Sleep?
It’s always interesting to watch an elephant. They’re always up to something fun! They do have those large bodies and even larger trunks, however, which really has me wondering how these sweet creatures ever get some sleep.
Elephants only sleep for two hours a day — they seriously don’t need a lot of rest. Because of their large bodies, elephants need to spend most of their time eating. It doesn’t give them a lot of time for snoozing!
They also only enter REM sleep once every three to four days. When they enter REM, they must be flat on their sides!
Elephants also always sleep in groups. Some elephants will sleep, while others will stand guard. It’s their way of staying safe.
It’s all to say that it’s probably a rare treat to see an elephant sleeping — especially one as Cute as this!
