The orange cones are back out now that the World Cup is over. The big picture: Officials didn't want construction making a mess during the tournament, but now it's full steam ahead. Zoom in: Kansas City put a pause on most construction permits through June 12. Since then, roadwork has resumed across the city. East Side: I-70 lane and ramp closures have begun again as part of the Missouri Department of Transportation's interstate improvement...

The big picture: Officials didn't want construction making a mess during the tournament, but now it's full steam ahead.

Zoom in: Kansas City put a pause on most construction permits through June 12. Since then, roadwork has resumed across the city.

East Side: I-70 lane and ramp closures have begun again as part of the Missouri Department of Transportation's interstate improvement plan.

  • I-70 will close between downtown and the stadium for the majority of 2027.

Downtown: Southwest Boulevard southeast of 25th Street will resume water main replacement expected to last into 2027 ahead of additional streetscaping.

The Northland: N. Oak Trafficway is getting a complete reconstruction, and work that will close two lanes through the end of the year is restarting.
