AI-generated content is taking over the internet, slowly but at a steady pace. That apparently includes music streaming platforms. Now, a major streaming service, Deezer, has announced that over half of all the music uploaded to its library in June 2026 was AI slop. That translates to over 90,000 new tracks not made by real people. What’s even scarier is that the number has been going up.
More than half of Deezer’s daily music uploads are now AI-generated
That’s a rapid jump in the last few months. Back in April, 44% of tracks were AI-made, and in December 2025, the AI-made tracks accounted for 30%. That’s almost a 3.3% increase every month. At this rate, Deezer could hit the musical singularity by October 2027. The platform has been building tools to detect AI-generated music for some time now, including a free playlist scanner.
It also automatically detects and tags AI-made tracks. Additionally, the platform keeps such tracks out of recommendations and playlists. But that’s not it, as it’s now taking even stricter actions going forward. While announcing these AI numbers, the company also shared the steps it’ll take to fight the rising AI slop.
The platform will now take down AI tracks
The streaming platform says that it will now systematically remove AI tracks used for streaming fraud and also tracks that haven’t streamed for at least six months. For context, streaming fraud is the mass upload of low-quality, often AI-generated music to game streaming royalties. The idea here is to flood platforms with thousands of tracks, push out human-made music, and earn a quick buck.
Fraudsters upload huge volumes of AI-generated music in the hope that even a small number of listens per track will add up across the entire flood of songs. Having said that, it’s not clear how Deezer will detect AI-generated tracks used for streaming fraud, as opposed to other possible reasons. While the impact remains to be seen, it’s still a commendable move from a music streaming service to take a stand against AI slop.
