Teyana Taylor merged the resurgence of Bermuda shorts with her high-fashion Saint Laurent styling at the "72 Hours" screening in New York City on Monday night.
The Oscar-nominated "One Battle After Another" actress meant business in a baggy blazer and Bermuda-length shorts from the French luxury fashion house's pre-fall 2026 collection, curated by creative director Anthony Vaccarello.
Taylor's look, while high fashion, was also on-trend with the Bermuda short resurgence reported by Sourcing Journal at the end of June 2026. Abigail Hoagberg, head of trend and editorial strategy for Trendalytics, found denim Bermuda shorts specifically were on the rise, supported by more than 3 million TikTok views and a 191 precent increase in social media buzz among influencers.
The style's been seen on other stars beyond Taylor. During Paris Couture Week on July 6, Jennifer Lopez sported a Michael Kors look from the American designer's fall 2026 ready-to-wear collection that incorporated the Bermuda length for her black shorts and white feathery jacket coordinated look.
Taylor, who often works with styling duo Wayman Bannerman and Micah McDonald, completed her suited look with a pair of Saint Laurent Brigitte pumps. She went for gold with statement earrings and a necklace from Schiaparelli, and added Gucci mask-frame sunglasses.
Once associated with more casual attire, shorts are currently being reimagined and refined by fashion houses. The "rebranding," as Lauren Fisher observed for WWD in June 2026, "was evident on the spring 2026 runways - with designers from Loewe to Hermès, Max Mara and more streamlining the silhouette through a more refined lens," Fisher wrote.
"Shorts have evolved far beyond casual weekend wear and are becoming a polished foundation for summer dressing," Jeremey Tahari, chief executive officer and creative director of Elie Tahari, said in Fisher's report.
"We're seeing a strong shift toward tailored silhouettes, particularly longer-length shorts crafted in linen and lightweight cottons, which offer the ease people want for summer without sacrificing sophistication."
Taylor costars alongside Kevin Hart in "72 Hours," which follows a 40-year-old executive who finds himself part of a bachelor party with a band of twentysomethings after he's included in their group chat. The film hits Netflix Friday.
