Elon Musk has weighed in on the Tesla (TSLA)-SpaceX (SPCX) merger chatter, noting the growing overlap between the companies, but stopped short of confirming any combination.
"As you can tell from the many collaborations on so many fronts with SpaceX (SPCX) – there's more and more overlap, especially with Terafab, that's really going to be a gigantic project," Musk said in response to an analyst's question on the matter during Tesla's (TSLA) earnings call.
"But obviously, we can't talk about combining companies and that kind of thing on an earnings call," he added. "It's got to be done with the appropriate process."
"We continue to benefit from our relationship with SpaceX (SPCX), and they've been a great partner, and we have numerous beneficial transactions with them," Brandon Ehrhart, Tesla's (TSLA) general counsel, said.
Musk went on to discuss the benefits, pointing to AI assistant Grok in Tesla (TSLA) cars and Starlink being integrated into the vehicles.
Gene Munster, managing partner at Deepwater Asset Management, said the odds of a Tesla (TSLA)-SpaceX (SPCX) combination are now higher.
"Going into the call, I thought there was an 80% chance the two companies come together in the next few years," Munster posted on X. "I'm raising that to 90%."
