(KRON) — Tesla announced on X it’s Robotaxi service now goes to SFO.
The @Tesla_AI account posted “Our Bay Area rideshare service now goes to SFO” on Monday. The announcement was then reshared by Elon Musk who added, “Getting this approval took a lot of work by the Tesla team.”
According to the Tesla Robotaxi app the current Bay Area service area spans from San Francisco to Berkeley, to San Jose.
KRON4 attempted to a book a ride to the airport, but got a notice of “High Service Demand” after the app attempted to locate a driver.
To use the service, riders download the Robotaxi app for Apple or Android. Users must have or create a Tesla account.
Tesla announced its ride-hailing Robotaxi service in the Bay Area last year. The autonomous rides are supervised by a safety driver.
The current fleet consists mainly of the Tesla Model Y, although Tesla is testing a new two seater Cybercab.
One of the new Cybercab vehicles was spotted by KRON4 early this month on Bay Street in San Francisco.
