Taylor Swift put fans on high alert this morning as Swifties noticed that three of the singer’s tracks on Spotify had their backgrounds changed. “I Knew It, I Knew You” and “I Knew It, I Knew You (Piano Version)” now have solid green and purple backgrounds, respectively. Swift’s original “Blank Space” has a red background now. (The background on “Blank Space (Taylor’s Version),” meanwhile, hasn’t been altered.)
The tweaks come after fans speculated Swift was dropping hints her 13th album was coming by wearing Easter eggs linked to it throughout the summer. She was also photographed heading to Electric Lady Studios in June, not so subtly confirming she was working on new music.
What do the color changes on Spotify mean? Swift hasn’t said anything herself, but fans have their theories. Some believe it’s a nod to her releasing the Taylor’s Version of her self-titled debut album (as the color green is associated with that era). Some noted that Shania Twain used similar colors to do different genre editions of her album Up!. For Twain, red was pop; green was country; and blue was international.
They speculated Swift would do the same, releasing a country version of her next album (green like “I Knew It I Knew You”), a pop version (red like “Blank Space”), and a piano acoustic version (purple like “I Knew It I Knew You (Piano Version)”).
Since releasing “I Knew It, I Knew You” in June, Swift has kept a really low profile. The singer got married in July and has been out of the public eye since then. Her last album release was The Life of a Showgirl in October 2025. She announced that album was coming on her now-husband Travis Kelce’s podcast New Heights in August 2025. Right after they recorded the episode, he proposed to her.
