Syracuse, N.Y. ― Basketball will be a family affair in Syracuse this winter.
Colin Daly, the younger brother of Syracuse assistant Ryan Daly, has been hired as an assistant coach at Le Moyne, the school announced.
The latest addition to Le Moyne coach Nate Champion’s staff, Colin Daly spent the last three years in Greensboro, N.C., as an assistant at North Carolina A&T.
Colin Daly graduated from Temple in 2022 after two years in the Owls’ basketball program. He previously played three years at Division II West Chester. After one year as a graduate assistant at Temple, Daly got the job at North Carolina A&T.
“Colin is a young coach who has a very bright future in our industry,” Champion said in the school’s release. “Playing at both the Division II and Division I levels, he possesses great playing experience combined with a tremendous mind for the game we are very fortunate on staff.”
Daly replaces Benny Marello, who left Le Moyne following four years under Champion staff for a coaching position at DME Academy.
Syracuse coach Gerry McNamara hired Daly’s older brother, Ryan, earlier this year.
Ryan Daly had been an assistant at Virginia Commonwealth, Bryant and Albany.
Le Moyne moved from the NCAA’s Division II to Division I three years ago, but the school’s athletic teams weren’t eligible for post-season play, according to NCAA rules regarding schools that make the jump to Division I.
The NCAA recently determined that Le Moyne will be eligible to participate in post-season play, including the men’s basketball tournament, this season.
