The Kentucky Wildcats continue to recruit point guard Reese Alston, and have gained some traction with him.

Mark Pope has already landed one elite recruit for the Kentucky Wildcats in the 2027 class, but isn't stopping there. He has targeted a number of the other top players in the group, and is looking to have his best recruiting class ever. On Monday, Joe Tipton of Rivals (subscription required) gave some updates on various prospects, including a few Pope is looking to bring to Lexington.

Reese Alston is a five-star point guard who Pope has been heavily involved with. According to Tipton, the Wildcats have made a big move with him, assuming he stays in the 2027 class. There is some talk of him being a candidate to reclassify, which might make the LSU Tigers the favorites.

Kentucky does have an open roster spot still available, but they already have multiple point guards on the roster, so Alston might look for someplace he can start. The decision whether or not to reclassify will be key.

Another player Pope is in the mix for is center Darius Wabbington. Kentucky made his final six, but the report lists Arizona as the favorite for now, with Indiana rising. The Wildcats would need to make up some ground in this case.

Cayden Daughtry also made headlines this week with a dominant performance at this year's Peach Jam. Pope was one of several head coaches to watch him live. The point guard's stock will be rising quickly, so the Wildcats will have their work cut out for them.

We will continue to monitor all of these recruits, and others, to update Big Blue Nation as things develop.
