Sydney Sweeney continues to forge a path as one of Hollywood’s most in-demand stars, with her newest project officially in the works.
The actress, 28, who fans best know from her role on HBO’s Euphoria, which just wrapped after three seasons, has continued to find steady work across a number of projects after a tumultuous 2025 that saw a major scandal involving an ad campaign and a major turnaround in her love life.
Now, after seemingly taking a subtle dig at Taylor Swift amid the singer’s feud with her boyfriend, Scooter Braun, she has once again landed a new role.

According to Deadline, she is set to star in Sony’s new retelling of Sleepy Hollow, which is called Hollow, and is based on Lindsey Anderson Beer’s debut novel. Beer is set to direct, produce, and write, with LuckyChap and Sweeney’s Honey Trap company also producing. It will be the first film produced by Sweeney’s company.
The novel, set for release in the fall of 2027, is a reimagining of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, told from the perspective of Katrina Van Tassel. The novel changes her from a romantic prize to a central figure in a “dangerous mystery and seductive supernatural love triangle.”
The actors to star opposite Sweeney as Brom Bones and Ichabod Crane have yet to be revealed.
This isn’t the first time Sweeney has worked with Sony Pictures, after starring in the mass hit Anyone But You with Glen Powell for the studio. She also executive-produced that film, which grossed over $210 million worldwide at the box office.
She last appeared in Lionsgate’s adaptation of The Housemaid, where she starred opposite Amanda Seyfried, with the movie grossing nearly $400 million worldwide and being given a green light for a sequel, The Housemaid’s Secret, which is set for a 2027 release.
She also starred as Christy Martin in the film Christy.
The new project and the success of The Housemaid come after her career looked like it could have tanked following a scandalous ad campaign with American Eagle, where she was accused of promoting Eugenics.
In one particular ad from the campaign, as she wriggled into a pair of the brand’s jeans, she said, “Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality and even eye color. My jeans are blue.”
The campaign faced swift backlash and was quickly pulled and retooled. She also faced criticism when she was then outed as being a registered Republican in Florida.
She has also faced backlash from some over her relationship with Braun, who is 16 years older than her and has been a controversial figure due to his history with Swift.
