Sophie Cunningham has never had a problem saying exactly what’s on her mind. This time, it just happened to be about her future husband.

The Indiana Fever guard confirmed she’s single. Then she went ahead and answered the follow-up question nobody even had to ask twice: What does the perfect man actually look like for her? Turns out, faith comes before everything else.

I’m not shy about this at all,” Sophie Cunningham said. “I grew up in Missouri. Missouri was like the No. 3 party school. Yeah, I went through the huge party stage. I’ve been with guys. But now that I’m actually where I’m at now today, my No. 1 thing is I want someone to push me towards Christ.

She wasn’t done. And honestly, she wasn’t holding back either. “If you’re not about it, and you don’t talk about it, then don’t even talk to me,” Cunningham continued. “I have my blinders on. I still have a bunch of guy friends. I’m open to ideas and whatnot. But my No. 1 thing is I want you to lead our house, lead me, lead our future kids to serve and love a good, good God.

Sophie Cunningham’s Faith Journey Has Been A Season-Long Storyline

None of this is new territory for Cunningham. Her Christianity has been front and center for a while now, and 2026 gave fans another reason to notice. Earlier this year, she went through a second water baptism. She posted the moment on TikTok, explaining she wanted to do it on her own terms, as an adult, not as a decision made for her back when she was a kid.

The timing lined up in an interesting way. Not long after, Cunningham re-signed with the Fever on a one-year deal worth $665,000. That number put her fifth on the team’s pay scale. Ahead of Caitlin Clark, still working through her rookie contract.

The deal wasn’t drama-free, either. Cunningham admitted on her own podcast that parts of the negotiation left her frustrated. She cleared it up on X shortly after. It was never about the money. She just wanted more guaranteed years in Indiana.

Sophie Cunningham Spent Her Sunday With A Few Hundred Kids Instead Of Resting

Back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday would wear most players out. However, Cunningham used her Sunday to run a youth basketball camp. She had it circled on the calendar long before the schedule got tough. So she showed up, and by the looks of it, she had the time of her life.

Photos from the day show her posing with campers, cracking jokes, fully in her element. A bunch of the kids wanted in on her now-famous pointing taunt, too, the one she busted out during a game against DeWanna Bonner that turned into a meme almost overnight. It’s a small thing in the grand scheme. But it says a lot about how she sees the platform she’s built.

A lot of WNBA players talk about paying it forward, about the women who built the league up before this current wave of attention arrived. Cunningham, who broke in with the Phoenix Mercury before Indiana traded for her, clearly means it when she says the same. On the court, the Fever are building toward something real. They currently sit near the top of the Eastern Conference standings, one year removed from a season that ended agonizingly close, one win short of the Finals.

Cunningham didn’t even get to play in that loss. A torn MCL ended her year early, and she watched the finish from the bench. Healthy now, she’s back to being exactly what the Fever need her to be, part enforcer, part energy source, all in. Whether a championship comes first or the husband who checks every one of her boxes is anyone’s guess at this point. Cunningham, at least, sounds like she already knows what she’s looking for either way.
