Struggling with sleep? This clever cocktail will help patch things up

Struggling to relax at night? This sleep patch could be the answer - After too many 3 am wake-up calls, the Sleep Deep patches called to me

My sleep has been shaky since my son was born two years ago. It was never a problem before, but now I am hyper-alert and can be jolted into consciousness by so much as a whisper two rooms away.

The danger zone is 3 am and I often wake up then and can’t get back to sleep. It’s a special form of torture.

What’s That Patch is certainly a clever concept. The science-backed ingredients are administered through the skin overnight to get directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the fandango of the digestive system which pills and powders must navigate.

The brand has patches targeting everything from longevity to productivity, but it was the Sleep Deep ones which called to me.

Struggling with sleep? This clever cocktail will help patch things up

★★★★☆

They contain a cocktail of snooze-inducing goodness – honokiol, apigenin, oleamide, PEA and magnesium – and I am pleased to say I have not had a 3am witching hour since I began patching up.

The effect is cumulative, with the power they have on sleep intensifying. A monthly subscription will set you back £19 which, as supplements go, is a steal.

My only gripe is with the patches themselves. Although the adhesive is said to be hypoallergenic, when I peeled the patches off each morning they left a red circle behind, which sometimes lasted for days.

Perhaps I have particularly sensitive skin, but my advice would be to stick your patch somewhere which will be concealed by clothes. Otherwise, patch up and sweet dreams.
