Tyson Fury faces Mariusz Wach this week in what is likely to be his final fight before a proposed blockbuster showdown with Anthony Joshua.
The self-proclaimed ‘Gypsy King’ ended his latest retirement in April, 15 months after being defeated by Oleksandr Usyk for the second time, dominating Russia’s Arslanbek Makhmudov en route to a comfortable points win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
That victory came with Joshua watching on as talks continue over the most long-awaited and lucrative clash in British boxing history, with Fury riled after his arch-rival refused his invitation to join him in the ring.
A deal for Fury vs Joshua to take place later in 2026 is still yet to be signed and sealed, with Joshua fighting on Saturday for the first time since suffering minor injuries as a passenger in a serious car accident in Nigeria in December that claimed the lives of two of his close friends and team members, Sina Ghami and Latif "Latz" Ayodele. He takes on Albania’s Kristian Prenga in Riyadh.
Fury generally wasn’t expected to fight again before meeting Joshua, only to announce at rather late notice a shock second warm-up contest against veteran Wach that takes place the day before Joshua vs Prenga.
The bout is in Thailand, where Fury now bases himself for training camps, in front of a small crowd and the money from ticket sales going to charity. He also insists it will not be televised.
Poland’s tough and durable former unified world title challenger Wach is a gatekeeper in the heavyweight division who will turn 47 in December, coming off a points loss to Ukrainian Viktor Vykhryst in his 52nd professional fight in Budapest in March.
‘The Viking’ has lost seven of his last 10 bouts, including being stopped in the second round by Moses Itauma in London in July 2024. He has also been defeated by the likes of Frazer Clarke, Makhmudov and Dillian Whyte in recent years, plus Tyson’s cousin Hughie Fury.

Fury says the bout will start at approximately 4pm BST, which is 10pm local time.
He has also revealed that the main event will be the first fight on the card, rather than the last.

The fight is being held at the Max Muay Thai Stadium in Pattaya, Thailand.
The venue holds around 2,000 spectators, with Fury confirming that only 1,500 tickets would be made available - and the proceeds going to charity.
How to watch Fury vs Wach
TV channel and live stream: Unusually, Fury has insisted that this fight will not be televised live anywhere in the world.
Instead, footage will only be seen on the third series of his hit Netflix reality show ‘At Home with the Furys’, a release date for which has yet to be announced.

Fury was dominant if unspectacular on his latest comeback against the hard-hitting but limited Makhmudov, shaking off the inevitable ring rust after 15 months as he eased to a wide points triumph.
He will look to step things up a notch here against an easier opponent on paper who is nine years his senior - one who was stopped by Makhmudov in the sixth round in 2022.
It is important that he sends equally as emphatic a message as Joshua, who is expected to make light work of the little-known Prenga 24 hours later in Saudi Arabia.
Wach has had his moments during a lengthy career that started in 2005 and has included brief forays into kickboxing and mixed martial arts (MMA), most notably taking Wladimir Klitschko 12 rounds when unsuccessfully challenging for the unified world heavyweight titles in 2012.
However, more than half of his 13 pro losses have come in the last 10 fights and he is now a long, long way past his best at 46. We expect one-way traffic and a likely stoppage.
