Stephen Curry added yet another incredible achievement to his already legendary basketball résumé, becoming the first active NBA player in the 77-year history of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame to receive a solo exhibit.
The Hall of Fame announced that its newest immersive exhibit, titled “Stephen Curry: Beyond the Arc,” will officially open to the public on July 24 in Springfield, Massachusetts. But unlike the usual Hall of Fame honors that come after retirement, Curry is being honored while still playing in the NBA, which shows the massive impact he has alrady has on the sport.
The exhibit goes well beyond Curry’s accomplishments on the court. Created in partnership with his Thirty Ink business team, ‘Beyond the Arc’ explores the four-time NBA champion’s influence as a basketball icon.
He also released a statement acknowledging the honor.
“Being part of the Basketball Hall of Fame in this way is hard to put into words.”
“When I think about my journey, I think about the people who believed in me, the work that happened when nobody was watching, and the moments that shaped me on and off the court. To have that story told while I’m still playing is something I don’t take lightly.”
“My hope is that fans walk through this experience and feel the joy, the purpose and the gratitude that basketball has given me, and maybe see a little bit of their own journey in it too.”
Selected seventh overall by the Golden State Warriors in the 2009 NBA Draft, Curry entered the league with major questions about his size, athleticism and durability.
But he completely changed how the game is played. His limitless shooting range revolutionized offense, inspiring teams at every level of basketball to prioritize the three-point shot like never before.
His list of accomplishments ranks among the greatest in NBA history.
Curry is a four-time NBA champion, two-time MVP, the league’s only unanimous MVP, a 12-time All-Star and the NBA’s all-time leader in three-pointers made. He also owns two FIBA World Cup gold medals and an Olympic gold medal from the 2024 Paris Games.
The exhibit also reflects Curry’s legacy beyond basketball. His philanthropic work, business ventures, and commitment to family all receive major attention.
The announcement comes during another busy offseason for Curry. While rumors continue to swirl around the Warriors regarding several high-profile moves, including speculation about LeBron James and a potential reunion with Klay Thompson, Curry prepares to enter his 18th NBA season.
But now, the spotlight is back on him as he deserves it. The Hall of Fame has a lot of legends, but never has there been one who has been honored while he is still playing.
