As the Pittsburgh Steelers gear up for an exciting training camp, a brand-new trade partner for Broderick Jones may have emerged from the NFC South following a pair of injury updates.
On Wednesday, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that the Carolina Panthers placed left tackle Ikem Ekwonu on the physically unable to perform list while he recovers from a torn patellar tendon. Panthers right tackle Taylor Moton is also on the non-football illness list after doctors discovered a blood clot in his lung.
With both starters expected to miss time during the 2026 regular season, the Steelers would be wise to field a trade call to gauge any interest in Jones.
Jones' overall health and recovery from a neck injury he suffered last season could scare the Panthers away from a potential trade. But Jones did participate in individual drills and stretches at OTAs, leaving a realistic shot that he'll be ready for the start of the 2026 season.
If Jones is healthy enough to pass a physical for Carolina, Pittsburgh can't afford to let this trade opportunity pass through its fingers, as the Panthers could be looking to spend big on an offensive tackle who can play on both the left and right sides.
