Catch it while you can.

Catch it while you can.

If you’ve spent any time on social media this year, you probably heard: 2026 is the new 2016. From skinny jeans to dramatic side parts, people are craving the charm of life pre-algorithm. And we get it. In this day and age, we’re preoccupied with how to optimize every second of our lives, from chugging more electrolytes to pumping our favorite treats with functional ingredients.

A decade ago, things were, arguably, simpler—or at least more whimsical. After all, this was the era of millennial pink, rainbow bagels, avocado toast, glitter, and peak unicorn mania.

So, as we welcome back ballet flats and Funfetti everything, it was only right that Starbucks revive a limited-edition offering that’ll quell our collective nostalgia for a more colorful time, and fans are crying with happiness.

Starbucks’ Unicorn Frappuccino Is Returning to Menus for a Limited Time

Starbucks just announced it’s putting the Unicorn Frappuccino back on menus. The jewel-hued beverage debuted in 2017 and became a sensation almost overnight. Of course, its eye-catching purple and electric blue colors are hard to miss, but the real draw was its elusive flavor profile and the way it changed from purple to pink as you drank it.

As Starbucks described, the Unicorn Frappuccino is “made with a sweet dusting of pink powder, blended into a crème Frappuccino with mango syrup and layered with a pleasantly sour blue drizzle. It is finished with vanilla whipped cream and a sprinkle of sweet pink and sour blue powder topping.” If this description leaves you with more questions than answers, we’re right there with you.

When it debuted, the Unicorn Frappuccino was available for only five days. Those who were lucky enough to catch one described the flavor as a mix of fruit punch and blue raspberry. Another person described it as “a weaker version of some Sour Skittles.”

Although the Unicorn Frappuccino hasn’t been seen in Starbucks cafés in nearly a decade, the viral drink did make an appearance at this year’s Coachella Music Festival, where a limited quantity was available each day of the event. Now, the coffee chain is bringing the legendary drink to Starbucks locations nationwide—and around the globe—but only for one weekend “to close out the summer.”

And, since the drink is notorious for being difficult to make, we’re not surprised to hear it’ll have a very limited run.

Like any real unicorn sighting, blink, and you’ll miss this one. Starbucks just announced that the Unicorn Frappuccino will only return to menus for two special days. It will be available August 15 and 16 for “one magical weekend to close out the summer.” So, before we dive into all things PSL this fall, we’ll be hitting the drive-thru to celebrate this fantastical throwback.
