Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 Rotten Tomatoes Score Debuts To New Series Record

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is back for season 4, which is setting a stunning Rotten Tomatoes record for the fan-favorite series on Paramount+.

Ahead of its premiere, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4 just made its debut on Rotten Tomatoes with a jaw-dropping score.

Strange New Worlds returns for its penultimate season on July 23 with the first of 10 new episodes. Created by Akiva Goldsman, Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet, the Star Trek: Discovery spinoff centers around Captain Pike and his team, including characters like Spock, Uhura and Scotty, in the lead-up to the events of Star Trek: The Original Series.

As of this writing, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4 is making a huge impression among critics. The series earned a perfect score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, which is the highest rating the sci-fi show has ever received. Early reviews are calling the new installment exhilarating and endearing, and claiming it has reinvigorated Strange New Worlds.

Ever since the show debuted in 2022, viewers have compared Strange New Worlds to Star Trek: The Original Series, and according to critics, season 4 will definitely lean into the franchise's classic elements and include Easter eggs for diehard Trekkies.

Every single season is Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, but none have a perfect score like Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4 has right now. The very first season of Strange New Worlds currently has a 98% critic score, with season 2 holding steady at 97%. Season 3, released in 2025, was considered the weakest installment among both critics and audiences, but it still managed to reach Certified Fresh status with an 88% critic score.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4's perfect score brings the show back to the superb quality everyone came to expect from the first two seasons. It also bumps up the average score for the series to 95%. In the streaming era of Star Trek, only one other series has a higher rating: Star Trek: Prodigy (97%).

Aside from strong reviews, Strange New Worlds has also received multiple nominations throughout its run, including at the Emmys, Critics' Choice Television Awards, Saturn Awards and Hugo Awards. The cast consists of Anson Mount, Ethan Peck, Rebecca Romijn, Jess Bush, Celia Rose Gooding, Babs Olusanmokun, Christina Chong and Martin Quinn.

Paramount+ has released several Star Trek shows over the past decade, including Discovery, Picard, Lower Decks, Prodigy, Strange New Worlds and Starfleet Academy. Most of them have already concluded, with the latter two being the only spinoffs still around.

Both shows, however, are coming to an end sooner rather than later. After season 4, Strange New Worlds will return for a shortened final season at some point. Star Trek: Starfleet Academy season 2 — the final installment for that spinoff — has already been filmed and will likely premiere in 2027.

Until then, viewers can tune in to the penultimate chapter of Strange New Worlds, which promises a return to form for the beloved series as it inches closer to the finish line.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4 premieres Thursday, July 23 on Paramount+.
