On Tuesday night, the SPP extended a Conservative Operations Advisory for its West Balancing Authority Area through Thursday, July 23 at 12 a.m. CT.
The advisory is considered a stable operating condition and does not require customers to conserve energy or take any action.
Officials said they're closely watching the forecast into next week as temperatures and demand are expected to increase.
According to the company, SPP helps manage the regional power grid and works with energy providers across multiple states to make sure electricity keeps flowing during times of high demand.
SPP said operators will continue monitoring conditions and making adjustments as needed to maintain reliable power.
