The Spider-Man: Brand New Day blockbuster hits theaters July 31, but the character himself turned up early and off-script in Arkansas, handling the kind of work that doesn’t make the trailer. A wheelchair user needed to get across a road. Spidey got him across. With great power comes great responsibility, and apparently a Jeep.
The incident took place at the busy intersection of Caraway Road and Highland Drive in Jonesboro. A man in a wheelchair was making his way across, moving slowly and struggling to gain any real speed with traffic waiting on him. Then a red Jeep Wrangler stopped and someone in a full web-slinger costume climbed out and went straight for the crosswalk.

Spidey grabbed the handles and pushed the wheelchair across before the opposing lanes got their green. Then he jogged back to the Jeep, keeping an eye on moving traffic so the rescue didn’t turn into an accident of its own.
The neighborhood hero under the Spider-Man costume was later identified as Chris Hellenthal, known on Instagram as @neaspidey. As reported by local media, Hellenthal works at the nearby Ultimate Air Trampoline Park and was wearing the uniform for Superhero Day. However, this was not a one-off stunt, as the employee frequently dresses like Spider-Man, making kids (and grown-ups) smile.

The Jonesboro Police Department posted the footage on social media and praised him for it, noting that red light or green light, there is always time to do the right thing. Locals piled on with approval, pointing out that not all heroes wear capes. Some drive Jeeps.
