The 30-year-old British actor rose to fame playing Peter Parker/Spider-Man.

Tom Holland has become the latest superhero to read a CBeebies Bedtime Story.

The 30-year-old British actor rose to fame playing Peter Parker/Spider-Man and has since gone on to reprise the role another five times.

Ahead of the release of his latest film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Holland will read Superworm, written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler, on the upcoming episode of the BBC series.

The story follows a heroic, super-stretchy worm who must be saved by his friends after he falls under the spell of the greedy Wizard Lizard.

Holland follows a cast of both superhero and supervillain actors who have previously read for CBeebies Bedtime Stories, including Chris Evans, Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston and Jason Momoa.

The actor first played Spider-Man in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War and the following year became the youngest actor to play a title role in a Marvel Cinematic Universe film in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Its sequels, Far From Home and No Way Home, released in 2019 and 2021 respectively, have each grossed more than one billion dollars worldwide, while the latter became the highest-grossing film of the year.

Holland has also appeared as the character in Avengers: Infinity War, Endgame, and Brand New Day, which will be released later this month.

The synopsis for the film has teased that it is a “brand new day for Peter Parker”.

“Fighting crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that doesn’t remember him – and the pressure of seeing his old friends move on without him – sparks a change in Peter he may not have the power to control.

“But that transformation might also be the only thing that can stop a shocking new threat to the city and those he loves – a powerful villain no one can even see. The world may have forgotten Peter Parker, but he hasn’t forgotten them.”

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released in cinemas across the UK on July 29, just days before its initially scheduled release on July 31.

Holland’s CBeebies Bedtime Story will air on CBeebies on Friday July 24 at 6.50pm and will be available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
