Spider-Man: Brand new day final trailer teases Peter Parker's connection to new villain

Peter Parker's long hiatus from the Marvel Cinematic Universe ends this summer.

Since the Spider-Man: No Way Home ending, the world has patiently been waiting to see what the MCU franchise will do with its beloved web-slinger. While Earth-616 no longer remembers who is underneath the mask, that is not stopping the hero from keeping New York safe.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will finally bring Tom Holland back as the MCU legend, as Sony Pictures has released a new trailer for his Phase 6 movie. Check it out below:

The final trailer showcases Tom Holland's initial trilogy, featuring Peter's journey from a teenager to a young adult. The Spider-Man: Brand New Day story takes place before the events of Avengers: Doomsday, with the big ensemble film arriving in December.

One of the highlights from the latest footage also shows more of Spider-Man's clash with Mark Ruffalo's Hulk. While it's still a mystery why the two heroes are fighting one another, it has been theorized that Savage Hulk is being controlled by the hooded figure who has been seen in the past trailers.

Something that may confirm those theories is the return of Michael Mando's Scorpion, as he is seen at one point asking Peter, "You think I am Scorpion?" This suggests that someone with mind-controlling abilities is possessing Mac Gargan.

However, Scorpion is just one of the many villains confirmed as part of the Spider-Man: Brand New Day cast. While defeated in The Defenders TV show, the Hand is making its MCU comeback, with the web-crawler now having to face them.

Marvin Jones III, who voiced Tombstone in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, will finally bring the MCU version of the iconic villain to life in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The Department of Damage Control is also set to have a crucial role in the summer adventure, including the introduction of X-Men foe William "Bill" Metzger, played by Tramell Tillman.

Luckily, Holland's titular hero won't be completely alone, as Jon Bernthal is bringing Frank Castle back to the MCU timeline, but this time on the big screen. Following The Punisher: One Last Kill, the gritty anti-hero is finally getting to be featured in a Marvel Studios project, as he and Spider-Man will be joining forces.

While her character's identity has yet to be revealed, Sadie Sink's mystery player is heavily rumored to be playing X-Men's Jean Grey. She is also reportedly coming back for Avengers: Secret Wars, which starts shooting this summer, but Marvel Studios has yet to confirm or deny her involvement.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters on July 31.
