Multiple mudslides closed a highway in southwestern Colorado on Tuesday.
The San Miguel County Sheriff's Office said multiple mudslides closed Colorado State Highway 145 in San Miguel Canyon for several hours Tuesday afternoon, before crews were able to reopen the road Tuesday night.
The sheriff's office said the most significant mudslides were around mile marker 89.5 with four to five feet of boulders, mud and debris blocking the entire roadway.
A motorcyclist was injured when the mudslides began at approximately 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, when rocks and debris swept him approximately 60 feet off Highway 145 near mile marker 90 into the San Miguel River, according to the San Miguel County Sheriff's Office.
He was transported by the Norwood Fire Protection District to St. Mary's Hospital with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening. There were no other injuries reported, the sheriff's office said.
