Find out what our readers are sounding off about today.

Sun Herald readers weigh in on local and national topics.

Who said it?

Al Sharpton and Ben Crump keep insisting that someone, in an official capacity, said that Nolan Wells death was a drowning and there was no evidence of foul play. Who said this? I’ve seen nothing reported that this was ever said by anyone in authority.

So sad

I can’t think of anything worse in the world than having to bury your child. I hope the entire Coast continues to support Christine and Elmore Wonsley and the rest of Nolan Wells’ family and friends.

Tragedy

I don’t know what happened on Horn Island. And whether it was an accident or on purpose, may the full truth come to light. And soon.

Don’t forget them

I hope everyone remembers the grieving family and friends of Nolan Wells once all the cameras are gone. And I hope they get a full and complete investigation from authorities and the independent team.

Independent investigation

I hope the family of Nolan Wells gets the results of the independent autopsy faster than the family of Trey Reed has gotten theirs. Because, the last I read, they were still waiting, months after the fact.

Cash grab?

Al Sharpton can say that this is not a cash grab and I believe him. I don’t doubt his work is backed by supporters. Ben Crump, on the other hand, I’m less certain about.

Be safe

We’ve got a tropical storm spinning out there in the Gulf of America. Remember that small storms can still be devastating, and deadly. Take the proper precautions.

Bertha

There’s nothing to see here, Bertha. Why don’t you just stay well offshore and head on over to Texas. I’m sure they’d welcome you with open arms.

More testosterone

Pete Hegseth is making testosterone testing a requirement for the military? Isn’t this the same guy who killed the mandatory flu shot program which allowed over 150 soldiers to infect each other at a base in Texas, and then was forced to reinstate it? Maybe he should make sunglasses mandatory in his presence so his brilliance doesn’t burn anyone’s eyes.

It’s almost comical

Watching FOX host Maria Bartiromo acting utterly dumbfounded, asking a guest why Iran can continue to fight back so well after the complete “obliteration” of their military capabilities by the U.S., according to multiple declarations by Donald Trump, was a real hoot. Please. Who cannot comprehend at this point that Trump lies, Hegseth lies, and Rubio lies, and they see nothing wrong with that in their attempts to cover up and hoodwink the public into believing that everything is just peachy and going exactly as planned?

Must be done

I commend the Trump administration for doing the hard work that must be done in Iran and in the Middle East.

Voter fraud

Voter fraud was .0000845% in 2024. That is way way less than 1%. Of course one needs a photo ID to register to vote. Once registered, one does not have to repeat the process when voting. Since there is literally no voter fraud, why are Republicans saying there is? The answer is that Republicans know they can’t win with fair voting, so they are trying to keep possible Democrats from voting. Please look up the amount of voter fraud. See for yourself. Then think about if you wanted to commit voter fraud, how would you do it? I can’t figure out how I would do it.
