SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — A 20-year-old man allegedly beat his pregnant live-in girlfriend and fired six rounds into an interior wall of their home while several family members and children were inside, according to Shreveport Police.
Police say Malachi Wilson was arrested in connection with a domestic violence incident after investigators said he attacked his girlfriend, who was approximately two months pregnant, during an altercation at their residence.
According to reports, when the victim attempted to escape by locking herself in a bathroom, Wilson allegedly forced the door open and continued striking her in the head and face.
Following the assault, Wilson then allegedly retrieved a firearm from the kitchen and fired approximately six rounds into an interior wall in their home. Police say everyone inside the home was able to evacuate safely and contact emergency services.
Wilson was initially arrested on unrelated charges. During a follow-up interview at the Caddo Correction Center, investigators said he admitted to both the physical altercation and firing the weapon inside the residence.
He now faces four counts of domestic abuse battery with child endangerment, one count of domestic abuse battery involving a pregnant victim, and one count of illegal use of a dangerous weapon.
He remains at the Caddo Correctional Center.
