The last of the heavy rain and storms is clearing out of the DMV through the middle of the night, with the most impactful weather clearing to the east by midnight. Some showers and rumbles of thunder could continue into the early morning hours, but most of us will see much quieter conditions heading into Wednesday morning.
A cold front will slow down and linger south of us on Wednesday, keeping the chance for scattered showers and storms in play across southern MD and toward central VA. The rest of the area should stay dry, especially north of DC. Even though storms will be possible, the bulk of the severe weather on Wednesday will remain just south of the DMV. Drier air will rush in and cool us down and make us feel a lot more comfortable starting Wednesday night and through the end of the week.
Overnight readings will drop into the 50s and 60s, with afternoon highs only in the low 80s on Thursday and Friday as high pressure settles in. This airmass will almost feel fall-like with how crisp it will feel, a very rare thing to have in late July, but we will take it! Sunny skies will remain on tap until this high shifts to the east, then it will start to warm up and some humidity will return over the weekend. Temperatures will climb into the mid-80s on Saturday, the upper 80s on Sunday, and then the low 90s by Monday. Spotty to isolated showers and storms will return to the mix Sunday into Monday as humidity levels rise to more typical summer levels.
Stay safe out there tonight, and have a great start to your Wednesday!
