In yet another sign of how beholden Senate Republicans are to President Donald Trump, they voted late Tuesday to confirm one of his court picks who previously attacked many of them – including Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who died last week – and fueled conspiracy theories about them being complicit in the Jan. 6, 2021 insurrection.

The Senate voted 50-48 to confirm Kara Westercamp, 44, to a lifetime seat on the U.S. Court of International Trade. Every Democrat voted no, along with one Republican, Susan Collins of Maine. Sens. Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.) and Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) missed the vote.

Democrats uncovered a trove of now-deleted social media posts by Westercamp attacking GOP senators. She called Graham “a weak-*** $$&&!” She described McConnell, who missed Tuesday’s vote because he’s in the hospital for a mysterious health condition, as a “modern-day Benedict Arnold.” She also spread lies about Jan. 6, 2021, and advocated removing every GOP senator who voted to convict shortly after the Capitol attack.

Republicans voted to confirm her anyway, including Sen. Darline Graham Nordone (R-S.C.), the sister of the late South Carolina senator, who was just sworn in last week to temporarily fill his seat.
