See how former Tar Heels fared in NBA Summer League

Nine former members of the North Carolina men’s basketball program – a group that includes two players who transferred from Chapel Hill and completed their college careers elsewhere – took part in the 2026 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas from July 3-19.

The Tar Heels contingent featured RJ Davis (San Antonio), Pete Nance (Milwaukee), Drake Powell (Brooklyn), Seth Trimble (Washington), Henri Veesaar (Atlanta) and Caleb Wilson (Chicago). Joining them were two ex-UNC standouts who finished at Vanderbilt, Tyler Nickel (New York) and Jalen Washington (Chicago), both of whom also saw action in Las Vegas.

Here’s a quick rundown of how each player performed in Summer League action.

Caleb Wilson, Chicago Bulls

Caleb Wilson had an impressive run for the Chicago Bulls in Las Vegas, with averages of 23.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.3 steals over four games in 27.7 minutes. He shot 50.0% from the field and 41.9% from 3-point range, ranking sixth in scoring among all Summer League players and also finishing in the top 25 in rebounding. 

Wilson’s highlights include a 35-point game against Memphis; 19 points, eight rebounds and three assists in a win over Washington; another 19 points and eight rebounds against Utah; and 21 points, eight rebounds and two assists in his final game against the Lakers on July 16.

Seth Trimble, Washington Wizards

Seth Trimble played five games for the Washington Wizards, averaging 10.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 23.3 minutes. He shot 42.5% from the field and 26.7% from 3-point range. 

On July 13 against Chicago, he started and played 28 minutes, scoring 13 points, grabbing three rebounds and making two steals and two assists. He also scored 24 points on 8-for-12 shooting against the Los Angeles Clippers on July 15 and made a notable block of former teammate Henri Veesaar on July 18.

Henri Veesaar, Atlanta Hawks

Henri Veesaar of the Atlanta Hawks averaged 10.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 0.8 steals in 20.4 minutes over five games. He shot 46.2% from the field and 38.9% from 3-point range. His standout game was on July 14 against Boston, when he scored 20 points on 7-for-12 shooting, including 4-for-6 from 3-point range, with four rebounds and three assists.

RJ Davis, San Antonio Spurs

RJ Davis of the San Antonio Spurs averaged 12.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 26.6 minutes across five Summer League games, with shooting percentages of 36.7% from the field and 14.8% from 3-point range. 

He started strong with a 20-point game against Milwaukee on July 12, including two 3-pointers, three assists and two steals. Davis posted a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds in a win over Utah on July 15 and finished his stint with 11 points in a win against Phoenix on July 18.

Pete Nance, Milwaukee Bucks

Pete Nance played five games for the Milwaukee Bucks, averaging 3.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 25.2 minutes. His shooting was efficient at 48.7% from the field and 46.4% from 3-point range. On July 15 against Charlotte, he scored 11 points with four assists, and he added seven points and three rebounds in a game against Phoenix.

Tyler Nickel, New York Knicks

Tyler Nickel participated in five games for the New York Knicks, with averages of 12.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 28.5 minutes. He shot 37.5% from the field and 41.3% from beyond the arc. Nickel started and scored nine points with six rebounds in a win over Detroit, then started again and scored nine points with four rebounds against Golden State.

Drake Powell, Brooklyn Nets

Drake Powell averaged 7.3 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 1.3 steals in 22.8 minutes over four games for the Brooklyn Nets. He struggled with his shooting at 25.9% from the field and 25.0% from 3-point range. His top performance was on July 14 in a win over Sacramento, when he scored 18 points in 21 minutes, shooting 6-for-10 from the field and 4-for-7 from 3-point range.

Cormac Ryan, Milwaukee Bucks

Cormac Ryan played two games for the Milwaukee Bucks, averaging 11.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 25.3 minutes. He shot 35.0% from the field and 36.4% from 3-point range and averaged one steal per game.

Jalen Washington, Chicago Bulls

Jalen Washington played two games for the Chicago Bulls, averaging 2.0 points and 1.0 rebounds in 5.9 minutes, with a shooting percentage of 25.0 from the field. He played four minutes against the Los Angeles Lakers on July 16, scoring two points and grabbing one rebound.
