If you watched Caleb Wilson's pro ball debut with the Chicago Bulls during NBA Summer League, you already want a fast-forward to the regular season.
Wilson dazzled in his Summer League debut, scoring a record 35 points. Wilson also threw down a highlight-reel dunk, led all scorers in points and blocks one game, then battled former teammate Seth Trimble in a Chicago Bulls win.
Wilson played so well that he drew praise from another UNC basketball standout. Danny Green, who helped North Carolina win the 2009 National Championship, said Wilson overshadowed every other player in Summer League.
Green enjoyed a long NBA career himself, playing 16 seasons with seven teams and winning championships with the San Antonio Spurs, Toronto Raptors and Los Angeles Lakers. Known primarily for his defense and perimeter shooting abilities, Green retired in October 2024.
For Wilson, he played Summer League ball with several other high-profile rookies, most notably fellow Top-4 picks AJ Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson and Cameron Boozer, only physically playing against Boozer. Bias aside, Wilson looks the most ready of this bunch, able to bring an instant impact from Day One.
Chicago sports a young roster, advantageous for a player like Wilson in his first year. ESPN currently projects Wilson to start alongside Josh Giddey, Norman Powell, Matas Buzelis and Nic Claxton, giving the Bulls a lineup capable of getting them back to the playoffs.
Wilson quickly proved himself as a superstar with the Tar Heels, leading them into National Championship contention before two separate, unfortunate injuries. Now in the NBA, Wilson is carving himself out a long, successful career.
