A 13-year-old boy was allegedly drowned by two teenagers Monday, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

A 17-year-old is facing a murder charge in connection with the death of a 13-year-old boy who drowned at a boat dock in Modoc, South Carolina Monday.

Landen Austin Moore, 17, was charged with murder on Monday after, on the same day, he and an unidentified 16-year-old boy held the head of 13-year-old Daryl Lowry underwater until Lowry died, according to a news release, arrest warrant and affidavit.

On Monday, investigators say Moore and the 16-year-old got into a physical altercation with Lowry at a boat dock in McCormick County. Lowry suffered cuts from a knife before he was held underwater by Lowry and the other teen until he “became deceased,” the affidavit said.

Moore was booked into the McCormick County Detention Center while the 16-year-old was transported to the state’s juvenile justice department.

It’s unclear whether the 16-year-old was also charged with murder.
