The Ryder Cup has beefed up its partner portfolio ahead of next year’s event, signing a deal with an Irish-founded financial services firm.
Stripe has become a worldwide partner for the next two editions of the intercontinental golf competition – held at Ireland’s Adare Manor in 2027 and Minnesota’s Hazeltine in 2029 – in a deal that will see the firm, which is dual-headquartered in San Francisco and Dublin, also become the official payment solutions partner.
Stripe’s chief revenue officer Conor McNamara said the firm will be able to cope with the demands of a Rider Cup, adding that “some of the world’s most complex businesses rely on Stripe for their financial infrastructure – from payments to managing billing, revenue, and money movement”.
Ryder Cup sponsorship expansion
Next year’s Ryder Cup will celebrate the centenary of the competition – which sees Europe face the USA in a mix of four-ball, foursome and single matches – which took place at Worcester Country Club in Massachusetts.
Europe will be looking to secure an eighth consecutive home Ryder Cup – having been unbeaten this side of the pond since 1997 – and a third successive win in all, having overcome fierce crowd opposition to beat Team USA around the infamous Bethpage Black course in New York.
“The Ryder Cup has grown to become one of the biggest events in global sport,” the European Tour’s Guy Kinnings said. “The ticketing, merchandise and catering operations are significant, with over 70,000-square-feet of merchandise space alone at the 2025 match in New York.
“Stripe’s technology platforms will help us to deliver a cashless experience in Ireland with increased speed and convenience for our fans around the world.”
Stripe will join Capgemini, DP World, Sap, Rolex and Smurfit Westrock as worldwide partners with the 2027 Ryder Cup ballot already closed for Adare Manor, which will host Ireland’s second Ryder Cup after the 2026 European win at K Club in County Kildare.
